Todd's Bio I am writing this on what is an absolutely beautiful day. It is early, the sky is blue, and the sun is warming my heart as the rays filter through the studio window. I am feeling renewed once again. The idea of being renewed is on my mind this morning. How many time in life do we renew ourselves. To many to count for me, but in reality, not enough. Through the year there are many ups and downs, joys and sadness, and as we gain the experience of live, we grow. One of the things that I have turned to my whole life, is music. Music is a wonderful healer and companion.
I started playing Guitar at age 11, on a cheap little acoustic my parents gave me as a gift, wow, what a gift! I learned some chords and how to tune, very slowly. I would pick up that guitar instinctively, my young inner self somehow knowing it would be a life long companion. By the time I was in High School, I talked my way into my first real band as the bass player, and I was off and running! I began writing songs, playing at school dances and meeting new friend, many that are my best friends still today. I remember asking myself, \"what would I do if I couldn't play the guitar?". Well at age 19, two weeks before my 20th birthday, I found out!
I was in a horrific motorcycle accident that crushed my left foot and paralyzed my left arm from the shoulder to the tips of my fingers. It took two years before I could make even the smallest motions. I was learning to compensate, using different muscles and nerves. Even though I couldn't move my left arm, I still kept going back to my old friend, my guitar. There was music in me, different music now, life has taken a turn, and I am growing in new ways. I would practice my guitar using my right hand to position my left in order to re-learn how to play the guitar.
That was so many years ago, my arm has healed over the past 27 years, and I am still learning how to play the guitar. I have written so many songs, songs about love and loss, songs about joy and sadness, songs about despair, and the love of God. Oh what a friend I have found in my guitar, my life long companion. I would love to introduce you to your new friend, a friend that has the answers to many of lifes most puzzling questions. Renew yourself today, become the person you are designed to be. Hear the music, feel the music, be the music. Express yourself through YOUR music!
